Construction has begun to build a school kitchen and dining hall at Mercy School in Kenya, which will be central to facilitate nutrition training and organic food production. Currently the program has been training 50+ farmers in Uriri Community.
Mercy "Paddock to Plate" program is a grassroots initiative designed to empower farmers in Uriri community by providing essential training in nutrition, indigenous seed cultivation, and sustainable farming practices. The school kitchen will be used as a community training centre to equip families with skills that improve nutrition.
Mercy School runs a daily food support program, where children who regularly come to school without food for the day are given lunch at the neighbouring Mercy Orphanage. This facility will also enable all school children to have lunch together at the school.
Nutritional Support for learners
76 learners across Primary and Junior Secondary levels access the current feeding program at Mercy School, consisting of both the community kids in school and Orphaned and Vulnerable Children supported by Mercy Compassionate Centre.
Priority is given to OVCs and those from food-insecure households. The most vulnerable cases for inclusion are prioritised through home visits to assess the family’s inability to provide meals and from those children regularly attending school but at high nutritional risk.

Plans and building approvals are complete along with quotes.
However, it is difficult to estimate final costs due to inflationary pressures in Kenya, but we feel it will exceed the current costing of $130,000. We have raised $80,000 as at Aug 2025.
If you would like to help us complete this vital facility, it is a tax deductible project. Funds are to be deposited to Door of Hope with a note that the deposit is to be allocated to Kenya, Paddock to Plate.
